Q:  What personal information does Autobiographer accumulate about me?

A:  We collect standard information about you to create your account, including your name, email address, password, date of birth, and payment information.  We may also collect some information about users who sign up for our mailing lists or visit our website, using cookies or similar technology.  When you have conversations with the app, we collect and preserve your stories and memories in your Memory Vault, but they are encrypted and private to you.  You are the only one who can view them.

Q:  Does the Autobiographer team have access to my stories via the codebase of the app?

A:  No.  We designed Autobiographer from the ground up with a central focus on user data privacy.  Your stories are encrypted and primarily stored on-device or in your cloud.  We don’t have the ability to see your private information in our systems, and will only have access to it if you share it with us for a specific reason, such as in a support conversation.

Q:  Does Autobiographer share my information with advertisers?

A:  No.  We aim to preserve your most cherished memories, and we want you to feel comfortable discovering your unique story without fear of who might see it.  With that in mind, your stories are encrypted, secure, and private to you.  We operate our business on a subscription basis to ensure we provide Autobiographer to our customers with a complete assurance in privacy.  We will never share your stories with third parties.

Q: Who owns my information?

A: You do, and you can ask to remove it any time.

Q: Is my data secure?
Yes.  Autobiographer uses leading encryption technology and relies on on-device storage, as well as encrypted cloud backups to keep your data secure.  Only you have access to your information via personal keys stored on your device.

Q:  Does Autobiographer comply with Law Enforcement requests?

A: Autobiographer does not have the ability to technically access your stored information by design.  As such, we are unable to fulfill external inquiries seeking user information in accordance with our policies and guidelines.

Q:  Do my stories get processed by vendors?  Is any of my information stored with vendors?

A:  Your stories are processed in part by technology from third party vendors, but they are never stored there.  Autobiographer has a privacy-centric focus and our team has conscientiously chosen only to work with vendors that share the same rigid privacy values as we do.  We regularly liaise with vendors to ensure our privacy standards are upheld.
